Matsuo Sushi (Review)
Matsuo Sushi (Review)
If you crave for fresh sashimi or just very delicious sushi, then you may want to check out Matsuo Sushi at Goldhill Plaza.
My wife and I were just talking about lunch options one day and we both remembered a Japanese restaurant at Goldhill Plaza that we have never been (or at least I haven’t been) and we decided to do lunch there.
We ordered the Sashimi set for lunch that was priced at $22 dollars. It was by far one of the freshest sashimi with a selection of 6 types of seafood. Amazing. A typical sashimi platter at some other place would have cost $20 and would probably have 3 types of sashimi.
We decided that we would go back again. This time around, we had the Matsuo-something-something bento that was priced at $27. And true enough it was nothing short of awesome. The chefs are really good at handling the food and the freshness is just simply amazing.
You can basically see for yourself what they plate in this beautiful bento tray. Tempura, a selection of sashimi, sushi sashimi and California maki. It also comes with a standard miso soup with a very premium chawanmushi to start the meal off.
I think the chefs are doing charity work especially for their set lunches, but I am not complaining. I already plan to have lunch again next week. Just the thought of the tempura makes my hungry. I don’t usually like tempura anything but these guys make it exceptional.
The service staff (the ladies) can improve their service a little more. So against conventional wisdom, I gave them a tip. Usually I don’t, but the food experience was so good that I felt compelled to.
Lunch is crowded so it would be good to book in advance or go early. But the small restaurant usually has enough seats for single or couple covers. An average meal would cost at least $30 but the value in the meal is worth at least double.
Bon Appetit!
